low-key Dallas

We decided to keep this anniversary low-key with our little toddler in tow.
We left in the early evening to explore a neighboring town called Dallas.
No, it is nothing like Dallas, Texas!  It has a small-town feel and the main street is very quaint with little shops and a cute bakery.  The church bells rung every half hour and every small business was happy to have us peruse their shops (even if we didn't buy anything).
We ended the evening with some yummy bbq, one of our favorites!
I'm so glad I married my best friend and so happy we have a little family.
Life is good.  Oh, so good.

4 years

Happy Anniversary to US!!
4 years ago we got sealed in the Los Angeles Temple.
2 1/2 years ago we welcomed our first child.
In the last year we have graduated from college and moved across the country.

These have been the best 4 years of my life.
I never thought I could be this happy with someone.
I love you, Charlie!!

insta :: vacation

Forsyth park in Savannah.

adorable home on Tybee Island.
evening treat at the Sugar Shack!

Charlie's parents invited us to Hilton Head for a quick getaway a few weeks ago and we had a great time!
We all took turns heading to the golf course to watch the PGA Heritage Tournament.  It was my first time going to a golf tournament and I loved every minute.  It was very relaxing and enjoyable.
Me and the hubs also enjoyed counting every guy in a pastel Ralph Lauren polo, with khaki shorts that hit right above the knee, sperry boat shoes with no socks and Ray Ban sunglasses to complete the look.
That is golf tournament apparel I guess!!
We spent time at the beach of course and got a nice base tan.
We headed to Savannah on the last day and spent time at Forsyth park and drove to Tybee Island for dinner and dessert.
It was the perfect getaway for this family of three and we enjoyed spending time with Grammy and Grandpa Baggett too!

city life

Charlie's parents recently moved downtown and we got to visit their new condo!
I loved the concrete floors, the modern feel and especially loved the floor to ceiling windows!
It was refreshing to walk outside the lobby and have restaurants, shopping, STARBUCKS (for your hot chocolate Moira!!), dry cleaners and the lovely Fox Theater within walking distance.
I'm excited to see how Moira furnishes and decorates the space, more pics to come... especially for you Reba!

I am so happy for Charles Sr. and Moira and I know they will enjoy their new city life!!

plan to prepare

My sister in law Stephenie started a new website that covers everything you need to know about
FOOD STORAGE!!
If you ever ask yourself...
how to start?
how to afford it?
how to store it?
how to use it?
ALL of your questions are answered on her website, plan to prepare!
She also gives great recipes using food storage, gives you a heads up on discounted items and also coupons. I would subscribe to her website so you know about all the good deals before they are gone!!
I'm so thankful for her website and hope you find it as useful!!

lost and found

lost:
These family pictures taken by my sister Leanna and her hubby Ernesto captured the true happiness I was feeling all of December.  At this point, our family was growing and little Charlie would have a sibling around August 15th.  I was so so so so so so so so HAPPY to be pregnant again.  We told our families and best friends about our news and Christmas time was pure bliss with the good news of a baby coming.

New Years day I started spotting.  I wasn't worried until the next day, when I started bleeding.
A trip to the ER and 3 more visits to my obgyn, the unsettling feeling I had was true... I was having a miscarriage.
A miscarriage.

It was just a few weeks before I called my new obgyn office to schedule my first prenatal, tell my insurance that I was in fact pregnant, and also telling family and friends our exciting news.
Now I had to undo it all.

found:
That first week of January I had a lot of time to think.  Think about what I had, think about what was happening to me, and think about how I was going to handle it.
I still went to church, accepted a second calling, went on dates with my hubby, watched my son every day, cooked and cleaned, started my FINAL semester of college, attended mommy playgroups, built friendships, helped with a baptism and more.  These little things helped me get through this sad time.

I still had to live my life, the same way I was before but with more meaning.
That is my best advice for someone going through a loss.  Stay strong and live your life.

Whenever I get sad about the loss, I tip-toe into little Charlies bedroom and lie on the floor next to his bed.  I just close my eyes and listen to him breathe in and out.  Even though I lost this baby, I have another baby that is living and he is so special.  The blessings I have right now are so special to me and I need to remember that.  I have a knowledge and testimony that God lives and loves me.  He is aware of me and my family, He is aware of my situation and He has not forgotten me.

Bringing in the New Year

What can I say, Savannah never disappoints.  Ever.
We chose the days leading up to the New Year to explore the town and
I enjoyed every minute with my family.
Leanna and I were able to escape for a bit and peruse the shops downtown
including the Paris Market, of course!
Oh, I must give credit to my lovely sister Leanna for taking all the
wonderful pics that I stole from her blog!  Thanks!

Christmas this year

 This Christmas was truly magical!
Family, good food, presents and laughter were all accounted for as we celebrated the season of giving.
We spent time with Charlie's family for Christmas Eve and spent Christmas night with my sister's family in Atlanta.  I got everything I wanted and needed for this Christmas and I couldn't be happier.
I am very grateful for my Savior this season.  I am grateful for the trials this last year, the growth that was experienced and the joy and blessings that followed.  I am closer to my Savior, closer to the scriptures, closer to my husband and closer to my child.

I hope everyone had a memorable Christmas this year!
